Hat Making Class

Kaori Millinery is the brand created by Kaori in 2014 in Tokyo.
Discovering hat making in London through the teaching of Prudence, one of the world’s top milliners, acclaimed for her long-time collaboration with Vivienne Westwood as well as for her hat collections for Tom Ford at Yves Saint-Laurent and Gucci, Kaori eventually worked as Prudence assistant in the production of headwear for Vivienne Westwood fashion shows between 2011 and 2014 and was occasionally involved in the production of stage costumes headwear for the English National Opera.
After a short-time training in Mühlbauer’s atelier in Vienna, the century-old hat establishment transformed into an international brand by fourth generation’s son Klaus Mühlbauer, learning about mass-produced hat-making techniques, then designing headwear for Keiko Nishiyama’s 2014SS Fashion Scout collection in London, Kaori and created her own brand in September the same year and came back to Japan a few month later to develop her business.
From traditional hat making to more contemporary headwear, high quality, comfort, elegance and a touch of eccentricity are values that are still rooted in the very heart of Kaori Millinery, after more than ten years of handmade creation and design.
