Hat Making Class
Overview
At our class, you can create a variety of hats and headwear using diverse materials.
To ensure proper finishing, each session is limited to three participants.
You will complete one hat per curriculum.
Course
Courses are divided according to skill level, and you will progress through the curriculum for each course.

Courses
Elementary course
To understand hat construction and fabric handling, we shall create a basic fabric hat.
Furthermore, as an introduction to the foundation course, let us experience making a felt hat using a hat block.
Curriculum1 : Bucket Hat
While crafting a bucket hat, you will learn fundamental hat-making techniques such as how to attach interfacing and insert sizing ribbons.
During the trial lesson, you will undertake this course.

Curriculum2 : Beret
You will learn how to sew together vertical seam pieces.
Time : 3sessions/9hrs

Curriculum3 : Casquette
You will make a hard-peaked cap.

Curriculum4 : Felt Hat
Hat making using a hat block, essential for authentic hat craftsmanship.
We create felt hats using hat felt, known as the ‘hat body’.
Time : 4sessions/12hrs

Basic Course
As an extension of the introductory course, you will learn how to draught patterns and the techniques for achieving your desired shape.
Curriculum5 : Pattern application of Horizontal Patterns
Building upon the basic bucket hat created in the introductory course, you will learn how to draw horizontal patterns and develop designs.
Time : 5sessions/15hrs

Curriculum6 : Pattern application for a Hat with Vertical Seams
Building upon the beret or cap created in the introductory course, you will learn how to construct vertical patterns, adjust volume, and develop designs.
Time : 5sessions/15hrs

Curriculum4 : Felt Hat
Hat making using a hat block, essential for authentic hat craftsmanship.

Advanced course
You can learn more advanced hat-making techniques, such as making hats from special materials and making hat moulds.

Mastery course
This course is designed for those wishing to delve deeper into the application of each course or freely create pieces using acquired techniques.
It is intended for individuals who have completed a certain level of Kaori Millinery lessons.
Time : 1 hrs
Fee : ¥8,800
Schedule
Lessons are held from 10:00-13:00 in the morning and from 14:00-17:00 in the afternoon.

Cancellation policy
Please notify us of any cancellations or changes to your booking by 10:00 am the day before. Cancellations made after this time will incur a cancellation fee of ¥2,000, payable at your next lesson.
Lesson fees and payment
Lesson fees vary for each course/curriculum. Please pay by bank transfer, cash, credit card or QR payment at the start of each course or curriculum. (Please refer to the course/curriculum descriptions for individual fees).
If you pay for the entire curriculum in one payment, you will receive a 5% discount on the price of each curriculum.
No refunds will be made in the event of a mid-course cancellation for personal reasons. Additional fees may be charged if the course time is exceeded by a significant amount.
